During the early stages of the COVID-19-related public health emergency (PHE), state and federal governments enacted a series of temporary rules and waivers designed to allow greater flexibility in the delivery of health care services via telehealth during the PHE. The Medicare program, as well as most state Medicaid programs and commercial payers, are still operating under these temporary policies and waivers.
